I met Glenn at the first Evecon, and thereby discovered this wonderful nest of worthwhile people who lived near me. Glenn and I have had many adventures together, including sometimes dating the same people. Even though we don't see each other as often any more, every time we see each other, we immediately have a good time and can still read each others' minds, understand obscure jokes, and generally have a continuous if discontiguous relationship.
Glenn's living in Baltimore, which is close enough to see each other regularly, even though I'm often too lame to journey up there.
I met Libby at a science fiction con a few years ago. We had a nice chat, and I'd run into her at various cons from time to time for a while.
Sadly, after a while, we sort of lost touch with each other, and I rather think some stupid actions on my part have axed the possibility of further friendship.

I met Jeanneane whilst hanging out with the University of Maryland medievalists back in the early 1980s. I was quite attracted to her, but she was dating a schmuck at the time and wasn't interested. One day she walked up to me and said "Guess What!". I said "You realized your boyfriend was a schmuck, dumped him, and now you want to go out with me?". Turns out I was right. We dated for a while and had lots of fun, but for various reasons we eventually went our separate ways. Quite a while later, Jeanneane approached me in my capacity as a reverend, and asked me to marry her (to Dennis). I agreed, and we had a lovely wedding, though her parents had some weird memories of me that they had trouble reconciling with my guise as religious official. Sadly, eventually the marriage fell apart, and then we had time to get to know each other again.

We met at a party, and were mutually enchanted. We dated for a while, and it was magical. We'd just know when each other was nearby -- one time, she was riding with a friend, and she mentioned that it felt like I was near, even though I was supposed to be at work that day. Just then, I crested a hill and drove by. She's a musician, and one day when I came to visit, she had an intricate piece of sheet music on her piano. Normally, I can pick out a tune and chords, but I'm no pianist. But this time, the muse was with me, and I sight-read a couple of pages and played them cold. She was thrilled, and I'm not sure if she ever quite believed that I can't normally play like that. Eventually, she told me her busy schedule didn't leave her enough time for our relationship. Shortly thereafter, we lost touch. When I went to visit, her house had been sold (her dad was in the military). I asked around, and rumour was that she had moved to Ohio, gotten in a bad/obsessive relationship, and had instructed people not to give out her whereabouts.
Finally got in touch with Suzan Stacey, and found she's married now, and her married name and where they're living. Next is to call information and get the number and say hi.
Several of my friends would be temporary denizens of a group house generally known as the House of Torpor. Jaki also lived there, and as I spent quite some time there, we became friends. Then, while building my house, I ran out of time on my lease, leaving me effectively homeless for a while, so I spent nights in the Torpor Chamber (basement) for a couple of months. Jaki came out and spent a night at the house when construction had made it more livable.
We ran into each other a couple of times, then I didn't see her for quite a while. Then I ran into her at a con (and we shared a really nice kiss) and found out she'd been living in New York for a while, but now was living in the Baltimore area.
I met Ed when I was dating Karen Dresser, and saw more of him when I was dating Elizabeth Ryan, sometimes I'd go up to visit Elizabeth and end up spending quite a bit of my time chatting with Ed. We've pretty much kept in touch ever since.

Barbara and I knew each other for years, both living in Bowie and hanging out with the local crowd. Our relationship eventually grew into quite a serious one, and we even got engaged for a while. However, Barbara began to realize her Jewish roots were important to her, to the extent that marrying me was no longer an option. So we split up, more or less amicably. Shortly thereafter, she relocated up north, and reportedly got married.
I got a couple of emails from her, always from an account that was just about to disappear, so apparently she didn't want to hear from me.
Newton was another of the crazies hanging out with the medievalists. We shared interests in art, music, and anime. We hung out a lot while we were both attending the University of Maryland. Then we sort of lost touch.
I saw some art with Newton's name on it at the World Science Fiction Convention in 2001. I asked at the dealers representing him, but they were in a silly mood and weren't much help. But I kept my eye out, and eventually saw him, off chatting with one of the other dealers. I ended up having a wonderful conversation with him and another artist. He's living in Utah, the result of a contract that went sour. He's hoping to escape to somewhere more civilized when he can. We exchanged contact information and keep in touch now.

I met Lara through her friend Fran Suskin and spent a great deal of time hanging out with the local group. Lara's dream was to become the herpetologist for a rock band.

I met Geneva at a con, and we saw each other from time to time thereafter. Until one Valentine's day, when I was all alone and therefore in a foul mood. In an attempt to cheer myself up, I started calling friends. When I called Geneva and wished her a happy Valentine's day, she told me she'd just been dumped and wasn't happy at all. I offered to drive to Charlottesville so we could comiserate. We ended up swapping stories and having a wonderful night.

I met Jeff through his brother John Hammel. Their whole family was cool. Originally they lived in Bowie, MD, then moved out to Shenandoah, VA. Jeff was a cheerfully silly person.

Chris was older than the other Hammel kids, so I didn't get to know him when they lived in Bowie. I got to know him when I was dating his sister Susan Hammel. A really nice, laid-back sort of guy, we'd end up following Susan around and making sure she stayed (mostly) out of trouble.

Maug and I met in our high school science fiction club. The nickname arose from a typo of "Haug", and basically stuck. Having similar appetites for mayhem and generally being social outcasts at the time, we quickly became close friends. We helped run local science fiction conventions, worked on each others' cars, built and modified musical instruments, blew things up, attempted to start a band, and many other pursuits. I was best man at his wedding.
We still see each other, trade email, and otherwise keep in touch.

Sue is this delightful person, who manages to contain a whole lot of personality and caring in a deceptively small package. When Sue hugs you, you really get hugged.
Sue actually tracked me down in 1998 or so, and we traded some email. I lost her address in a disk crash, but fortunately, she continued to keep in touch.
I first met Susan on Hallowe'en in Bowie when she was 12. An adorable figure in a hooded cape with a candle, I could see she would be an interesting person (her whole family is cool). So I asked her out, eight years hence. While we didn't end up making that date, we did stay in touch, and became good friends. We eventually lost touch for quite a while, but her husband tripped over this page on a web search and she emailed me.

We met at a con in 1983 and found we quite enjoyed each other, so we went to Pennsic Wars together, and spent most of the time together. We saw each other from time to time after that, but eventually drifted apart.

I met Sonja through Susan Hammel. We were sorting pumpkins, and had a really good time. That evening, Susan wandered off with her beau, leaving Sonja and me alone with each other. We ended up necking up a storm. We proceeded to date for several months, dealing more or less effectively with the fact that it was quite a journey for a new driver. Unfortunately, we drifted apart. Rumour had it that she dated an obsessive sort for a while. I got one letter from her, apparently from a school address, just before I had to pack away all my belongings until I could move into my new house.
Her old phone number is out of service.
I'd see Jennifer around at the various area science fiction conventions and medievalist events and we got where we'd always be glad to see each other. I tried on multiple occasions to ask her out, but either there would be a bunch of hangers-on, or we'd miscommunicate, and it never came to pass.
Last I saw her was at a Cirque Du Soleil performance in 1998 or so (whenever Alegria came out).

Thor was one of the local science fiction club crowd, and lived really close by, so we saw each other a lot. We had a similar low-stress approach to life and got along pretty well.
Last I heard, Thor was attending school out in Ohio.
I met Jamie when I was living in Bowie, we had several friends in common and shared an interest in science and electronics. Sadly, his dad passed away, leaving a bunch of electronic equipment, some of which Jamie gave to me (and I still have). Later, his mom passed away too, and Jamie was left to fend for himself.
I met Ginger through her brother, and we eventually became friends. We'd have a nice time chatting at parties where she or I didn't know many of the other people there. We also shared a very nice kiss once. She was also cast adrift when her parents passed away.

I met Peter when working as a technician at the particle physics lab at the University of Maryland. He was very friendly and helpful, and I learnt a lot of useful things from him. He had a knack for finding simple, inexpensive, and effective ways of doing things. In one instance, a $27,000 custom made electron gun stopped working after just a few week's use, and the experiment would have been totally derailed, but Peter's handmade gun ended up doing the job just fine. When it eventually stopped working (after quite some time), another feature evidenced itself, as he demonstrated that the cathode (the part that wears out) is replacable.
Last I heard, Peter was working on free electron lasers at NRL.
We met when I was doing a room share at a con, and really enjoyed each others' company. As she preferred dating women, we didn't date seriously, though we'd hang out together. We lost touch for a while, then I got the bad news. A wonderful person, I miss her a lot.

Stephanie was one of the actresses in the production of Godspell our local charity theatre group, the Bowie Hunger Committee, put on every year. I was sweet on her, but she wasn't interested in a skinny young geek. I went to see her in other plays, such as Waiting For Godot, when I got some last-minute tickets that were comps that didn't get picked up. She later told me those had probably been her comps, and I could have gotten in free if I'd had the brains to ask.

Sativa was one of the W and L high school crowd. Glenn Arthur and I tried to date her for quite a while, having a lot of fun, but never really getting serious. I told Sativa once that I expected to see her at random intervals for the rest of her life. Several years later, I ran in to her at a con and she pointed out that this was indeed the case. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her since.

One day, my friend Glenn Arthur asked me if I could help some people make a science fiction film. They needed set pieces, lighting, some computer programming, and so forth. This sounded like fun, so I went along with it. When we got there, I was pleasantly surprised that the film crew consisted of five attractive young women. I told Glenn "You didn't tell me they were five gorgeous girls!", and he admitted "I didn't know!". Gnome was one of these people, and we hit it off immediately. We dated for a while, and had a great time. Eventually, we drifted our separate ways.
Turns out she's happily married and living in California these days.
I met Elizabeth at a con, when she'd just gotten really nastily dumped. She had it in for the whole human race, especially guys. Naturally, I was intrigued. We dated for a while, really enjoying each others' company, but never getting really serious. Eventually we drifted apart.

Yvonne and I met at one of the many parties that the medievalists were always throwing. She was a lovely young woman, with a flair for innovative fashion and accessories. She had a hat with fork accents that was really nifty. She also had a clock with feet for hands. We hung out and dated for a while, then she sort of evaporated.

I met Marq at this every-weekend continuing party at his dad's house. A thorougly silly guy, he was always involved in something offbeat. He and I ended up dating a lot of the same people, which led to humour more than angst.

Suzan was one of the drama club members at Bowie Senior High. She and Shelley Davis were close friends. She played a (pardon the pun) bewitching character in Bell, Book, and Candle.
I found a copy of her old phone number, and decided to give it a try. She no longer lived there, but as it happens, the house stayed in the family and her sister now lives there. Better yet, it was her sister's birthday party, and Suzan was there!

Ilana was another of the interesting people who hung out with the medievalists when I did back in the early 1980s. We knew each other, but weren't close, but Ilana is an exceptional person, and unforgettable. Years later, I met her brother, Allon Stern and eventually figured out they were related.
We saw each other at Allon's wedding and had a chance to catch up. She's married now, and went off having adventures and sailing all over the world with her husband in their houseboat. Now they're back stateside, planning their next adventure.

I see David from time to time at science fiction cons, and I have a couple of his books.

I met John when we were both working at C3/Telos. Having similar geekly interests, we spent a lot of time chatting and concocting elaborate plans for world domination. We would go out to lunch together frequently enough that the servers at the local restaurants would sometimes have our orders ready as soon as we sat down.
I ran into John in 1999 or so at Tysons Corner Mall. He said he was living in Norfolk, and I got some contact info, which somehow never made it home. Later, I got some email from him (he'd tripped across this page), so we're in touch again!

When I first met him, I somewhat resented Tom, as his good looks and charm tended to keep him in female company while I was left alone. This wasn't his fault, girls just liked him. As it happens, he didn't mind particularly if I started going out with one of the people he was dating at the time. As time went by, he and I got to know each other better, and we've been friends since the late 1980s. He no longer effects the Rathmir persona (he even offered to give me the tee shirts with the black-on-black Rathmir logo at one point), and now sells custom made fashionable clothing, lingerie, and costumes.
I see him at most of the local cons, in the dealers' room during the day selling clothing, and roaming the halls at night, showing off splendid outfits with his wife.
I met Mindy while hanging with the W and L high school crowd. She and shared interests in art and anime. We flirted up a storm, but never managed to really get dating. I still have and treasure some things she made for me. We had a really sweet surprise kiss at a video store once when she realized I was into one of the same series she was.
I see Mindy at cons occasionally, but I haven't gotten a chance to catch up on things.
Anna and I knew each other over a span of a few years, at cons, medieval events, and suchlike. I was chatting with her at one Disclave, and found out that not only was she currently taken, but she was moving to Florida. I asked if she was up for a goodbye cuddle, and she was. Having come from the pool, she was wearing a swimsuit, which was conducive to a really nice standing backrub. She commented that this was really enjoyable, and it was a shame she was moving away. She gave me her email address, and we traded some notes, but then that address stopped working.
I honestly don't remember how I originally met Tammy. However, we became pen pals, and had a lot of fun sending each other silly letters. I actually drove up once to visit her in school, posing as her uncle.
Last, I heard, she was still living in Ridgewood, NJ. There's a chance that Richard Segal knows her.

Holly was one of the role-playing gamers in Bowie, so I ended up hanging out with him a lot. He had a wonderful sense of humour, and always saw the lighter side of things. And, my mom liked him.
Last I heard, he'd moved to Georgia.
