Not many supplies are needed for neon work. The main one is the glass tubing itself. It comes in 46-inch lengths in a variety of diameters, colours, and coatings. To get started, you'll probably want clear glass in 5, 10, and 12mm diameters. The little glass is for tubulation, mercury traps, and mouthpieces. Most signage is made of the other two diameters. You'll also want some phosphor coated glass in a few common colors. Once you're good at glasswork and want some more exotic shades, you might want some of the coloured glass types. These are harder to work with and more expensive, but there's no other way to get a good rich purple.

neon electrodes You'll also want electrodes to attach to the ends of your finished tubes. Since you can buy electrodes already tubulated, you can save yourself the trouble of adding your own by buying the readymade ones. You'll want both the tubulated and non-tubulated varieties, since you only need tubulation on one end. You'll need electrodes in all the diameters you'll be working with.

Last of all, you'll need the finish-up materials. These consist of high voltage boots to protect wiring at the ends of tubes, blackout paint to cover up portions of tubing you don't want to show, mounting hardware to attach your neon to things, and power supplies.
